What Is Therapy Like?
Therapy can differ greatly based on the therapist, the modalities and theories used, and the place you are in your life. However, research shows that the most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist. You should choose your therapist carefully, as a good match may be the best indicator that the therapy will help you reach your goals. Ultimately, therapy is something that can help you feel better emotionally, spiritually, and even physically.
Therapy is a collaboration. You and I will work together to enact the changes you seek. One of my jobs is to create a nurturing and safe place for you to share your thoughts and feelings. You will have the opportunity to gain new insights and share with me aspects of our work that are helpful and those that are not. In addition to talking, people who see me sometimes do art, learn mindfulness and body work techniques, and do homework. I have also completed EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Basic Training and utilize EMDR with all clients who are open to this mode of healing.
Some of the issues I help people with include:
Abuse (sexual, physical, and emotional)
Other Traumas (birth trauma, assault, car accidents, witnessing violence, natural disasters, war, etc.)
Anxiety and Fears
Family Issues
Infertility Challenges & Miscarriage
Abortion
Pregnancy
Postpartum Depression and Anxiety
Parenting
LGBTQ Issues
Transgender, non-binary gender queer affirmative and knowledgeable. I am also able to write letters for gender affirming surgery and hormones.
White Privilege
Discrimination
Identity Issues
Life Transitions
Chronic Illness
Grief and Loss
Caretaker Issues
And Many More
