Frequently Asked Questions
How long does therapy last?
The length of therapy varies greatly. Some people get the support they need and resolve issues within a few months. Others need counseling for several years. Frequently, people attend therapy at different points in their lives, coming back for "tune-ups" or when they face a new challenge. Generally, sessions are 60 minutes and after the first few appointments I will be able to give you a better idea of the anticipated duration of treatment.
Is there something wrong with me?
Generally, I believe people are doing the best they can with what they have been given. It is my belief that asking for help is incredibly brave and should be viewed as a strength.
How much?
As a licensed therapist, I am eligible for reimbursement by insurance companies and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP's). I am paneled with a number of insurance companies and am happy to bill them for you. Please contact me to find out of I am "in network" with your insurance provider. You are also welcome to call or email me about my current rates and to double check if I accept your insurance or am covered through your EAP program. If you have insurance coverage with a company I am not in network with, they may very well reimburse for the services of any licensed provider. This is called "off-panel" or "out of network" benefits.
No matter your insurance company, it pays to call them and ask:

I have several sliding scale spots in my practice. I accept cash and checks at this time. For those who are unable to afford my sliding scale, I am happy to help you find an appropriate referral.
